Victor Moses is expected to complete
his loan move to Liverpool from
Chelsea by Sunday, in time to be in
the stands at Anfield for the game
against Manchester United.
The forward has been chased by the
Reds for most of the summer, but
Chelsea's reservations about allowing him
move to a somewhat direct rival, as well
as long-drawn out negotiations on
personal terms, stalled the move.
That opened the door to the likes of
Stoke City, WBA, Southampton and
Norwich to attempt a last-minute switch.
But the player was intent on playing for a
top side, and that swung things in
Liverpool's favour.

Arsenal turn attentions to Draxler
Arsenal have turned their
attention to Schalke wonderkid
Julian Draxler as they attempt to
salvage a botched transfer
window, Naijanewsstand can reveal.
The Gunners have made an enquiry for the attacking
midfielder after struggling to land some of their top
targets.
Schalke value Draxler, who has earned six Germany caps
at the age of 19 and is widely regarded as one the hottest
emerging players in Europe, at the £40 million mark.
It is the latest in a string of increasingly scattergun moves
by Arsene Wenger for marquee talent in the final stages of
what has been a frustrating summer of activity for the
club.
Arsenal have moved for Draxler amid growing doubts
about whether they can capture Angel Di Maria from Real
Madrid before Monday night's deadline.
Real have indicated they are willing to accept Arsenal's
£25.6m bid for the Argentine but the deal has stalled due
to Tottenham delaying Gareth Bale's world-record transfer
to Real Madrid.
There are also doubts about whether Di Maria is willing to
swap the Spanish giants for north London even though he
could be the odd one out of the attacking misfielders
available to manager Carlo Ancelotti this season.
The offer for Di Maria remains on the table but the
Londoners are wary of waiting too long to capture the
former Benfica man and risk failing to land any big-name
stars.
Arsenal remain in the hunt for Wayne Rooney but have all
but abandoned hope of signing other targets Luis Suarez or
Karim Benzema.
Wenger also wants to add a midfielder - a second bid for
Yohan Cabaye is still a possibility - and a goalkeeper, with
Asmir Begovic the No.1 target.

Football:- Mikel & Victor Moses Might Exit Chelsea Soon - Jose Mourinho Speaks
Jose Mourinho has hinted that Super Eagles midfielder,
John Mikel Obi and striker, Victor Moses may be loaned
out, to keep the Stamford Bridge side trim and
manageable for him.
The Portuguese was quashing rumours that Juan Mata
could be departing Chelsea this summer, but admits there
will be departures before the end of the transfer window.
“Mata is a player we all like, he is a player we want to
keep. We want more quality in the team, not less,
Mourinho told The Metro “Juan is not a player we want to
lose.
However, question marks have been placed over the
futures of John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses, after
Mourinho revealed players would have to leave the club in
order to make way for the incoming Willian.
“The point is not to sell, the point is I want a 22 player
squad. Do we need to sell? No we don’t. Do we need to
loan? Probably yes, I don’t like to work with a big group of
players,”he added.“If somebody is coming, somebody will
leave.”
Mikel currently appears the most likely candidate to leave
Stamford Bridge, with Galatasaray confirming their
summer-long interest with a £10m bid for the Nigerian,
while Moses – who joined from Wigan last summer –
could be sent out on loan.

Wizkid is Nigeria’s king of the twitter
WizkId, Ayo Balogun has got every reason to beat his
chest again, even going as far as calling everyone “broke”
this time around with a bit of a smirk on his face as
another feat has been added to his mounting heap of
honours and accomplishments.
*Wizkid
Though the 24-year-old met a lot of big guns on the scene
but it appears he is out-muscling them on the popularity
contest by a long stretch. The twitter followers check
reveals the ‘Pakurumo’ crooner has followers totalling
over 720,000 while next in line to him, D’Banj, Tuface
Idibia and close rival Davido are a long shot away, with
the closest person with followers less than 400,000
people.

the litmus test to measure popularity, especially among
entertainers the world over. Lady Gaga got so big she felt
she should have a social media of her own, hence ‘Little

ANAMBRA 2013: Another Port-Harcourt court orders PDP, INEC to recognize Nwoye
…as PDP suspends Senator Uba, Chief Chris Uba and
associates *I cannot be suspended — Chris…
A FEDERAL High Court has ordered the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, to abide by results of the ward
and state congresses supervised by the national
secretariat of the party in the selection of its governorship
candidate. The ward and state congresses eventually
produced Comrade Tony Nwoye as the party’s flag bearer.
The court order is contrary to another interim order
obtained earlier this week by the Ejike Oguebego faction
of the party compelling the party and the Independent
National Electoral Commission, INEC to accept Senator
Andy Uba as the party’s flag bearer. Both orders were
issued by different justices of the Federal High Court,
Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.
Meanwhile, the PDP in a sharp reaction to
the increasingly murky legal developments,
yesterday, suspended Senator Andy Uba
and his junior brother, Chief Chris Uba,
from the party. Also suspended were some
of the leading associates of the Ubas,
among whom were Chief Oguebego,
chairman of the Chris Uba led faction, Mr.
Benjamin Udeozor, a former chairman of the same
faction, and Mrs Anthonia Nwankwu, the Southeast zonal
woman leader of the party.
The suspension it was learnt is preceding a plan to expel
the five from the party. But in swift reactions, Senator
Andy Uba told Vanguard on telephone that he was
ignorant of the action while his junior brother, Chris
asserted that the party cannot suspend him on the fact
that he is presently in court.
The court order on the PDP and INEC obtained by Mr. Paul
Azebo and Christopher Obijofor, purportedly delegates
from the ward congresses orgnaised by the national
secretariat, was got on August 16, ahead of the PDP
governorship primaries conducted last Saturday.
The plaintiffs who brought the national chairman of the
party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, the PDP and INEC as
defendants prayed the court to compel the defendants to
uphold the candidature of whosoever emerged from the
governorship primaries supervised by the national
secretariat as the candidate of the party.
In the order given by Justice S. A. Aliyu it was ruled that:
*An Order of interim injunction is hereby made restraining
the 1st and 2nd Defendants from adopting, nominating,
selecting, holding out, submitting or in whatever manner
presenting to the 3rd Defendant any person as candidate
of the POP for the Anambra State Governorship election
fixed for November 2013 or any other date, except the
person that emerged from the POP State Congress/
gubernatorial primary election in which the Plaintiffs and
other elected ward delegates of the 1st Defendant
participated in, having been elected so to do, pending the
determination of .the Motion on Notice,
*An Order of interim injunction is hereby made restraining
the 3rd Defendant from accepting any nomination or
recognizing or howsoever dealing with any person as the
governorship candidate of the PDP for the forth coming
Governorship election in Anambra State, other than the
person elected from the State Congress/gubernatorial
primary election of the 1st Defendant conducted by the
panel set up by the National Working Committee of PDP
for the purpose of the said Gubernatorial primary election
scheduled to hold on August 24, 2013 or any other date
with the list bearing the name of the Plaintiffs and other
Ward Delegates that emerged from the ward Congress
held on August 12, 2013, pending the determination of the
Motion on Notice.”
R-L Sen Andy Uba and Chris Uba
Oguebego faction
Justice H. A. Nganjiwa of the Federal High Court, Port
Harcourt is, today, expected to hear the two sides in the
case instituted by the Oguebego faction seeking to compel
the PDP to present Senator Uba as the party’s
governorship candidate.
Meanwhile, the PDP, yesterday, suspended the two Uba
brothers, Oguebego, Uduezor and Nwankwu from the
party.
The party in a letter signed by the Acting National
Secretary, Dr. Charles Aderemi Akitoye, based the
suspensions on the failure of the five to appear before the
NWC as directed over the allegation that they conducted
parallel congresses of the party against party regulations.
The letter which was addressed individually to them and
dated August 29, read: “the National Working Committee,
NWC at its 353rd meeting held on Wednesday, August 28,
2013 reviewed the happenings in Anambra PDP regarding
the Anambra Primary Election.
“It was noted that you organized a parallel state congress
which was unauthorised by the party contrary to section
58 (1) a, b, c, f, h and j of the PDP constitution (2012 as
amended). As a result of this, you were invited to meet
with the NWC on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 for fair
hearing, but you did not appear.
“In view of the seriousness of the issues involved, you are
hereby suspended from the party and the case referred to
the appropriate Disciplinary Committee for further
necessary action”.
Reacting to the development, Chief Chris Uba in a session
with newsmen last night said: “I came to Abuja on
Wednesday evening from Enugu and I was given a letter
from the PDP, and as soon as I read the letter, I knew
where they were going to. I did not do the congress and I
was not a party chairman in the state.
“So, I rushed to court yesterday (Wednesday) and the
court asked us to come on Friday. I was surprised to hear
that I have been suspended. I want us to respect
democracy and the rule of law. We must protect the rule
of law and the judiciary.
“Why the rush in suspending me and the five others?
There were more than a million PDP members at the
congress. They should have suspended all of us.”
ASUU STRIKE: Reps Ask ASUU Not To Give Up
xFormer Chairman, House of Representatives
Committee on Education, Farouk Lawal, yesterday,
appealed to the Academic Staff Union of
Universities, ASUU, to return to the negotiating
table with the Federal Government to bring an end
to the lingering strike.
Lawal, who spoke during a chat with newsmen, also
charged the Federal Government not to always cave in to
pressure to sign an agreement if it knew the terms were
stringent.
He recalled that similar incident had occurred in the past
when government bowed to pressure and later backslid,
stressing that dialogue remained the best way out of the
present ASUU/FG impasse.
He said: "I think, in the first place, that the best way of
resolving any crisis is through dialogue and it is on this
note that I am appealing to ASUU to resume negotiation
with the government.
"I am appealing to both sides to resume negotiations
because, it is only through dialogue, it is only through
consultations, that the issues can be resolved.

The Federal High Court in Abuja has vacated the
suspension of the factional aspirant of the Peoples'
Democratic Party, Senator Andy Ubah and four
others by the Peoples' Democratic Party.
Justice Ahmed Mohammed who set aside the suspension
also gave an interim order restraining the Peoples'
Democratic Party from suspending Senator Ubah and four
other factional members of the party.
It also suspended any decision taken by the disciplinary
committee set up by the Peoples' Democratic Party from
taking any further decision that will affect the membership
status of the Peoples' Democratic Party pending the
hearing of the suit filed by Mr. Chris Ubah, on the 5th of
September 2013.
Justice Ahmed Mohammed also ordered the Peoples'
Democratic Party to appear before it on the 5th of
September to show cause as to why the motion for expert
e order filed by Mr. Chris Uba, Senator Andy Ubah, Benji
Udeozor, Ejike oguebego and Anthonia Nwankwu should
not be granted by the court.
It would be recalled that the PDP had August 29, 2013,
Thursday, suspended five factional members of the party
for failing to appear before its disciplinary committee to
explain why it organized a separate primary for the
Anambra state governorship election.

Nigerian students have had enough of staying at home
due to the ASUU strike and they have made this clear by
speaking out.
As a result of the almost two month old strike, the
National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS),
yesterday issued a one-week ultimatum to the Federal
Government and the union’s leadership to resolve their
differences or face serious consequences.
According to reports, the students said if the impasse was
not resolved within the next seven days, it will mobilize
students on a nation-wide riot in what it described as
‘operation occupy Nigeria’.
The students’ body appealed to ASUU to return to the
classroom and continue negotiation with the Federal
Government since the latter claimed to have released over
N100 billion for infrastructural development and another
N30 billion for allowances.
This was the highpoint of a protest by the students who
blocked the Asaba end of the River Niger Bridge to press
home their demands. The protest caused traffic snarl for
several hours as the students stalled movements to the
eastern part of the country even as those returning were
barred.
NANS coordinator in the South-South and South-East,
Comrade Chinonso Obasi, stated that students were at the
receiving end of the strike and vowed that they would
take their destinies in their own hands if the parties failed
to reconcile within a week.
“We are appealing to ASUU that since the Federal
Government has been able to release N100 billion for
infrastructural development and N30 billion for allowance,
they should go back to classroom and continue their
negotiation or agitation. This is our prayer and wish.
“We are giving them one week to open the schools or be
ready to face corrosive consequences in form of nation-
wide demonstration and riots. We are ready to mobilise
for that and it will be operation occupy Nigeria,” he said.
Lamenting the effect of the strike, Obasi said students
have become prone to accidents on the highways and the
female students have been reduced to sex hawkers on
the streets.
His words: “I stand to tell you that a lot of accidents have
been recorded and 99.9% of the victims are Nigerian
students. If they were in classrooms, they would not have
fallen victims of road crashes.
“Our female students have become commercial sex
hawkers on the streets in order to make ends meet. This
colossal effect is more than what ASUU is agitating for.
Hence, we can no longer fold our arms and watch things
go wrong.”

Hell was let loose in the early hours yesterday at Oba-
Ofemmili community in Awka-North Local Government
Area of Anambra State, when some youths, suspected to
be cultists attacked Christians in their worship places, shot
and inflicted machete wounds on over 50 of them.
Assemblies of God, Deeper Life, Winners, Catholic Church,
3 thers affected.
The attackers also went on rampage, looting and burning
churches in the community. Some of the churches burnt
include Assemblies of God Church, Grace of God Church,
Deeper Life Bible Church, Winners Church, Christ Holy
Church, St. Paul’s Catholic Church and another pentecostal
church.
The assailants, according to the victims, attacked the
worshippers with dangerous weapons, shooting
sporadically and wounding several people. They were said
to have invaded no fewer than seven churches, burning
and destroying everything within their reach.
A two-year old baby was among the victims.
It was gathered that trouble started in the community
over disagreement between the Christians and the idol
worshippers on the cultural night masquerade, a local
fetish cult opposed by Christians in the area.
A victim of the incident, who gave his name as Mr Sunday
Aliuba, said they were in the church when the miscreants
stormed their church, armed with guns and machetes. He
said they swooped on the congregation and inflicted
machete wounds on them, causing stampede as people
struggled to escape from the church.
Hear him: “How it happened was that Oba-Ofemili and the
Christians had an agreement that the night masquerades
will not start by 9pm, and we were having our
programmes according to the rules. But on Monday night,
I was at the crusade when we heard that the pagans will
burn down all the churches. Around 11pm, they started
shooting sporadically into the air, causing everybody to
shiver. Around 1.00am on Tuesday, they stormed the
church, and razed down the parish priest’s house and
pursued everybody in the church. We hid under the
staircase and under the pews.
“In self-defence, we pounced on some of them. As it got
hotter, my colleagues ran away. I also ran but they
pursued me and shot me in the legs, shattering my ankles
and bones. They also inflicted machete wounds on me.
The blood that came out of my body can fill two buckets.
It is only God that is sustaining my life till now.”
When contacted, the priest of St. Paul’s Anglican Church,
whose parish church was razed, Rev. Pat. Odinanwa, said
series of efforts made to ensure peace in the community
between the church and the community failed. He said the
pagans nursed pathological hatred for Christians in the
community. According to him, there were agreements
reached between the church and the community, but the
pagans sought all avenues to stop Christians from
worshipping God in the community.
According to him, over 50 persons sustained gunshot and
machete wounds, while seven churches were burnt by the
irate youths. He said Christians in the area had been living
in fear, as the youths threatened further attack today.
