Cardiff City manager Malky
Mackay is thrilled to have
completed the signing of striker
Peter Odemwingie.
The 32-year-old had fallen out of

to force through a deadline-day
move to QPR back in January, and he finally got his desired
departure late on Monday, signing a two-year deal at the
Cardiff City Stadium.
He arrives following an
impressive haul of 30 goals in 67
league appearances for the
Baggies, and Mackay is
delighted to have the
experienced player within his
ranks.
"I'm delighted to sign a player
with a proven record of scoring
in the Premier League," the
Cardiff boss told WalesOnline.
"Peter's record speaks for itself.
"He's versatile, got great pace
and does bring us that bit of experience we need.
"He's an outstanding footballer at Premier League level, an
intelligent footballer with a bit of guile.
"He's going to prove an asset for Cardiff City of that I've
no doubt."
Odemwingie will be hoping to make his first Premier
League start of the season when Cardiff continue resume
their campaign against Hull City Tigers on September 14.

>> 5 Reasons Why My Android Smartphone Is Better Than A Girl Friend
Ya, I am still single, so what? You want to fight about it?
In all honesty I have dated a few wonderful women, and
for whatever the reason the relationship just didn't work
out. I have lots of nieces and nephews, and a great
family, so I decided to take a few off from dating.
I do get a few questions, from time to time, as to why I
have made this choice. I just tell people I choose My
Android Smartphone over dating, and usually no more
questions follow.
1. My Xbox Was Only 32,000 Naira I have seen dates
where people easily spend 20K. There where no 3D
graphics or bonus content on that date.
2. I Don't Have To Shave Nor Shower To Press My
Android Smartphone I am all about hygiene and proper
attire but my Android Smartphone never asks me to wear
a colored shirt.
3. My Android Smartphone Never Asks Where This
Relationship Is Going I don't want to think my Android
Smartphone is slutty but it never questions my
commitment before I level up.
4. I Never Have To Give My Xbox Gifts My Android
Smartphone has never ask for a necklace or a spa day
with my Symbian Phone. Not that I haven't thought about
getting my Android Smartphone a cool tiny hat, as too
give it a little personality.
5. My Android Smartphone Never Asks Me To Meet Her
Friends, It all honesty, I don't get this... it has friends, but
if my Android Smartphone, the toaster, and my Symbian
want to hang at IHOP and just talk, I think I would be ok
with that.
In summary, I know that my Android Smartphone can't
give me a hug or share memories with me, but I am sure
Google is working on that.

Mesut Ozil has sealed a
spectacular £40 million move to
Arsenal after signing a five-year
contract, Goal understands.
The Gunners have smashed their
transfer record to land the
Germany international, who
underwent the second part of his medical in Munich on
Monday after agreeing personal terms with the club.
Goal has learned that Ozil has signed a deal worth
£130,000-a-week that will run until 2018 after Real Madrid
gave the green light to his departure.
He will comfortably become Arsenal’s highest-paid player
as well as the club’s record signing, after Arsene Wenger
sanctioned the first £20m-plus transfer in their history.
Goal exclusively revealed on
Sunday that Arsenal were in
advanced discussions with Real
to sign Ozil before Monday
night’s transfer deadline.
The two clubs agreed a £40m
fee before Ozil’s representatives
began discussing personal terms
with senior Arsenal officials.
An agreement was reached late
on Monday morning, as was
revealed by Goal, before Ozil
underwent medical tests in
Germany, where he had been
based as the national team
prepare for their forthcoming
World Cup qualifiers.
Arsenal are hoping to sign at
least three players on deadline
day as they try to make amends
for a frustrating summer of
transfer activity at the club.
As revealed by Goal, goalkeeper
Emiliano Viviano has already had
a medical, which he passed on
Monday morning, and has
agreed the terms of a season-
long loan from Palermo. Arsenal
are also in talks with Chelsea
about a season-long loan move for Demba Ba.
The Gunners have still not abandoned hope of signing
Angel Di Maria, also from Real, for £25.8m.
The Gunners tabled a £25.6m bid for Di Maria last week
and the offer is still believed to be on the table. However,
the Argentine winger has begun the season in impressive
form and is reluctant to cut his ties with the Bernabeu.

Wanted: A Martin Luther King Moment in Nigeria
Last Wednesday, America stood still as the nation marked
the fiftieth anniversary of the epochal “I have a Dream”
speech by the late civil rights leader and orator
extraordinaire, Martin Luther King. From Presidents
Carter, to Clinton and Obama, they all spoke of the slow
but steady progress that America has made in race
relations, economic empowerment, civil rights and the
narrowing of lines of discrimination and segregation which
Martin Luther so eloquently spoke against and paid the
ultimate sacrifice.
Fifty years ago, America was still enmeshed in racial
discrimination and segregation. The Deep South - the
ground zero of the struggles for racial equality - was a
cesspool of violence against the blacks, where the
rampaging goons and killer squads of the Ku Klux Klan
ran amok, a land deeply divided according to race, social
standing, and pedigree and skin pigmentation. Schools
were segregated and backs could not sit in the front
seats of public transportation, neither could they go to
non-colored restaurants and expected to be served. The
landmark 1896 Plessey v Ferguson had legalized and
institutionalized discriminations.
The rights of citizenship as enshrined in the 15th
Amendment was flagrantly abused as sleek and sly
machinations were employed by several states in the
south to ensure that the central role of citizenship- the
right to vote was denied blacks while the morally revolting
trade in humans which Lincoln abolished through the
landmark Emancipation Proclamation was skirted around
through sleek legal processes and laws passed by the
state legislatures form the south
It was in an effort to create a more inclusive society, an
economic level playing field and a sense of dignity to the
blacks that Martin Luther King took upon himself the task
of rousing the nation’s conscience to this inhumane
manner the blacks were treated. Employing the
instrument of non- violence, Martin Luther brought the
issue of discrimination and segregation to the front
burner of national discourse and eventually succeeded in
forcing a change to civil and voting rights for the blacks.
The historic Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts of 1964
and 45 respectively changed the texture of American
politics and helped usher in the redeeming provision of
the 15th Amendment.
Martin Luther King played a pivotal role in awakening the
nation’s conscience to the ills of racism. His “I Have a
Dream Speech” which was given at the steps of the
Lincoln Memorial in Washington on August 27 1963, and
whose 50th Anniversary was marked this week, helped
to soften the hardened concrete of America towards
racial equality. While other civil right movements
employed and openly advocated the use of violence to
achieve their aims, Martin Luther took the path of non-
violence, fully conscious of the belief that violence begets
more violence.
He wanted America where blacks would not be judged by
pre-conceived notions based on race, but by the
appreciation of God’s un-ending gift of freedom which is
colour blind. He wanted a nation that would celebrate its
diversity and use it as a source of strength and not as an
optically repellent condition.
Even though he, as rightly predicted may not get to the
Promised Land, as he was senselessly cut down at the
prime of his life in 1968, his prophetic, message today
has come to pass. Little black boys and girls from
Mississippi down to New York, Alaska, etc today are
holding hands in a symphony of love and oneness,
schools that hitherto were closed to black kids on account
of colour have now been de-segregated, enabling my
daughter, Uduak, now a senior in high school, that is 98
percent white to have friends who, a mere fifty years
ago, would have been barred from fraternizing with her.
As President Obama stated, because of Martin Luther
king, American political process has been made better
and saw changes from city councils, the mayoral
chambers, the state legislatures, the governors chambers
and finally the White House. Fifty years ago, President
Obama with all his Ivy League education and political
skills would have been judged purely from his skin
pigmentation as opposed to his God’s given talents.
Today, thanks to Mr. Luther King, the rough plains of
American politics have been strengthened, the goons of
KKK have been reduced to the fringes, and the loud
voices of racial irredentists have been silenced while the
orchestra of inclusion and tolerance now rent the air. The
gulf of discrimination based on race has been bridged and
young people of all races can now look to America where
though the vestiges of discrimination still exists, now has
been made better by the rainbow of diversity that defines
the nation.
Though elements that are opposed to change still speak
in frightening tones, their voices have been drummed out
by the loud proclamation of oneness of our essence.
Today, a black man with an exotic name and heritage sits
in the world’s most powerful office-The White House.
Today, African Americans are no longer spectators in the
field of political relevance, economic empowerment or
social and cultural awakening; they are major players,
key members of the boardroom. An African American is
the nation’s chief law enforcement officer, an African
American is the engine room of efforts to keep America
safe - the National Security Adviser, Dr. Rice; African
Americans have ruled states such as the bastion of the
Old Confederacy, Virginia - Douglas Wilder; African
American had ruled the nation’s economic and power
house, New York - David Patterson an African American I
today rules one of the most white states in America,
Massachusetts - Deval Patrick.
All over the nation, because of the efforts of one man,
Martin Luther, the political, cultural and economic
landscape of a nation was changed; it repudiated a
culture of discrimination and segregation and saw the
folly in judging fellow humans based on the colour of their
skin and not by the content of its character.
Reflecting on the speech, I couldn’t help but wonder
when our Martin Luther King moment would occur; when
we would begin to see ourselves as one people drawn
and inextricably bound by the pursuit of things that unite
us, as opposed to those that divide us; when we would
speak as Nigerians and not as northerners, or easterners
or south westerners, but as Nigerians. When will the
Martin Luther moment occur in Nigeria? When politics
would no longer be seen as a zero sum game, when the
interests of the people would be paramount in the grand
schemes of our leaders, when our leaders would realize
that success in public service is not measured by how
many mansions you built, how fat your bank account is,
how many cars you have in your garage, but by what
efforts you made to impact and touch lives profoundly.
I yearn and pray for that moment when a galvanizing
voice would appear on the horizon and lift every soul and
propel us to build a nation that would apply the vast
resources at our disposal for the common good and not
common greed; a galvanizing voice who would tell us that
politics of inclusion is more ennobling than the politics of
exclusion and that east, south, north and west, we are all
one. Hopefully, that moment will come in or lifetime.

Catholic priests to fight abortion law in Imo
OWERRI — Priests of the Catholic Ecclesiastical Province
of Owerri, have started strategizing to tackle the anti-life
legislation recently signed into law by Governor Rochas
Okorocha.
Vanguard investigation revealed that the clerics held their
first meeting last Thursday at Maria Assumpta Cathedral,
Owerri.
Feelers from the meeting chaired by His Grace, Dr.
Anthony J. V. Obinna, revealed that one of the major
issues discussed was the controversial abortion law foisted
on the people by the state.
One of the priests said: “We met to properly position
ourselves to effectively battle the controversial abortion
law recently signed by Governor Rochas Okorocha.”
Gov Okorocha
Meanwhile, Archbishop Obinna has called for immediate
abrogation of the state laws containing what he termed
“anti-life legislation” signed by Okorocha and his
predecessor, Chief Achike Udenwa in 2012 and 2007
respectively.
Archbishop Obinna, who was visibly angry as he spoke on
a number of issues, including the controversial abortion
law and this year’s Odenigbo Lecture, insisted that all anti-
life laws in the state must be abrogated.
“We are calling for immediate abrogation of all anti-life
legislations in the state. Although the church will not be
mirred in the nation’s murky waters of partisan politics, it
will, however, continue to demonstrate interest in the
nation’s democratic process for the common good of the
citizenry.”
He expressed regret that after beating a regret that
followed public outcry in 2010, the State House of
Assembly eventually legalized the evil of abortion,
Governor Rochas Okorocha quietly signed the state Law
number 12 of 2012.
According to the fiery Archbishop, this new law, which was
signed May 29, 2012, Nigeria’s Democracy Day, contains
obnoxious and lethal provisions.
“This new law contains obnoxious and lethal provisions.
This law threatens many conceived but unborn children
with imminent death. This is unacceptable, anti-life and
unchristian,” Obinna said.
The Catholic cleric equally descended on former Governor
Udenwa for assenting to “the Gender and Equal
Opportunity Law Number 7 of 2007”.
The cleric noted that some sections of the law also
legalized abortion without considering the right of the
conceived, unborn child or the helplessness of the unborn
baby.
He said: “Since abortion amounts to murder of the
helpless, hapless child, we as God fearing people in Imo
State, cannot standby and allow this law to rampage our
society in the name of Women’s Reproductive and Gender
Rights.”
On the forthcoming Owerri Archdiocesan Day and
Odenigbo Lecture, Obinna explained that the former vice
chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor
Peter Ejiofor, had been chosen as the lecturer, while the
topic is “Igbo progressive welfare”.

The 22-year-old passed a medical

"First and foremost, I'm delighted to have made the loan

about it and I'm here to do a job for the club.
"The target is to get into the top four and for the club to
compete in the Champions League - and I'm delighted to
be here.
"The manager has done very well and the formation and
players here will help me and I just want to gel in, get to
know the players and play with them.
"There are a lot of quality players here - they're winning
games and creating chances. It's a massive thing for me to
be here."
Moses moved to Stamford Bridge from Wigan Athetlic in

Official: AC Milan sign Kaka
AC Milan have confirmed the
signing of Real Madrid midfielder
Kaka.
Following long negotiations into
the early hours of Monday
morning in the Spanish capital
between Adriano Galliani and
Kaka’s representatives, a deal
was struck that sees the
Brazilian arrive in Italy on a free transfer.
According to the club's official website, the Brazilian has
signed a contract until 2015, with only performance-related
incentives due to Madrid.
The 31-year-old will earn €4 million (£3.3m) net per season
at Milan and is set to fly to Linate Airport on Monday
morning to undergo a medical.
Kaka previously wore the Milan jersey from 2003 until
2009, winning one Serie A title as well as the Champions
League during his first spell at the club.
The former Sao Paulo youngster then left the club for Real
Madrid but never managed to live up to the high
expectations at the Liga giants as he mainly warmed the
bench at the Santiago Bernabeu.
He announced last week that he wanted to leave Madrid
this summer and has now gotten his desired transfer back
to Milan.

Linda Ngaujah's Testimony Is Of God Linda Ngaujah's Testimony Is Of God
Linda Ngaujah's Testimony Is Of God
Text: 1 John 4:1-3
1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits
whether they are of God: because many false prophets
are gone out into the world.
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that
confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of
God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is
come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of
antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come;
and even now already is it in the world.
"Yesterday, Sunday 9th June, 2013, around 1:20PM
(Nigerian Time), I saw a revelation, where an Angel of
the Lord, came to pick Linda Ngaujah to heaven that, the
Lord Jesus Christ want to give her a message. So, as
they started to ascend to heaven, I saw a man calling,
pointing to Linda and accusing her of something. Then, I
had a voice, responding to the man that 'I sent Linda'.
There and then, the revelations ended".
Now, as an individual, I don't know Sister Linda Ngaujah
nor, have I met her physically/personally but, I have
been fortunate and privileged enough to have listened to
her message titled 'Testimony of Heaven and Hell' which
I downloaded from YouTube. Here is the link to the
version I uploaded to YouTube https://
www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAfOajAvVyw, after cutting
her testimony from the whole video. After uploading the
video, I decided to search for some of the evil pastors
she mentioned on her testimony. Honestly, I was
disappointed by the reactions of some of these pastors to
her testimony.
For example, Bishop J. Achibald Cole - General Overseer,
New Life International Ministry, Sierra Leone, the current
Pentecostal Fellowship President in Sierra Leone, reacted
to Linda's message this way: “and so we consider her
statements…..will create confusion and breed division
among the Christian community in Sierra Leone.” See
details here http://kevindjakpor.blogspot.com/2013/03/
the-sierra-leonean-girl-who-met-gaddafi.html.
Also, Apostle Akintayo Sam-Jolly - Founding member,
Living Word Of Faith Bible Church, the current General-
Secretary of Pentecostal Fellowship in Sierra Leone,
equally reacted to Linda's testimony in a negative way.
Now, if these men are' TRUE' servants of the Lord Jesus
Christ as they are claiming, they ought to have known
that, somebody will not just come up and 'fabricates'
such sensitive message about them. A man is rebuked
when he/she is drawn away from the truth. Instead of
them to repent from their evil ways and amend their
wicked ways, they choose rather to attack Sister Linda,
calling her names. Pastors indeed!
However, I will not be surprised to know that, one of
these two so called pastors, is the one I saw in my
revelations, accusing Sister Linda of something. Pastors,
you can deceive your members with fake 'anointing' but,
you can't deceive yourselves and you can NEVER deceive
God, about what you are doing in the secrets and in the
open.
Encouragement For Sister Linda Ngaujah:
Sister Linda, the Lord is with you. Please, don't be afraid
to deliver the message our Lord Jesus Christ, gave you to
His church and to the world at large. Remember that,
Jesus Christ was persecuted, reviled and was called
names. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his
might. He has been fighting your battles, and He will
continue to fight for you until victory is won. I want to
assure you that, God will never abandon you as you daily
go out to share His message of Grace and total
repentance to all humanity. May anyone that incensed
against you fall for your sake in Jesus name.
May the weapons and daggers of death drawn against
you return in full force to the one that draws it in Jesus
name.
Anyone that will ever dig a pit for you and all that is
yours, shall be buried in those pits in Jesus name.
Wherever your name shall be mentioned for evil, may
Jesus appear instead of you in Jesus name.
I declare that, your testimony will never be destroyed in
Jesus name. The Lord is with you and will forever be with
you in Jesus name. God bless you.

My father broke my virginity - Girl confesses
A 17-year-old female
student of Takoradi Senior High School (name withheld)
has confessed to DAILY GUIDE in an interview that her
biological father has been having sexual intercourse with
her for the past nine months.
The girl claimed that she was a virgin but her father,
who was sojourning in Spain and returned to Ghana in
December last year, broke her virginity at his Adiembra
residence near Sekondi, where he had sexual
intercourse with her on several occasions.
“At the age of 16, I had not slept with any boy or man,
but my father returned from Spain last December and
started having sex with me,” the 17-year-old girl alleged.
Asked why she did not inform her mother of the alleged
abominable act by her father, the girl indicated that her
parents had divorced and that it was her father who
was taking care of her. He threatened to stop paying
her fees if she told anybody.
“If my father doesn’t pay my fees no one will do it. My
mother does not have the means to take care of me in
school so I was afraid to inform anybody about my
ordeal; not even my mother,” the victim claimed.
The 17-year-old girl told DAILY GUIDE that she is a
Methodist but her father had been preventing her from
going to church, thinking that she might inform some of
the church leaders of what he had been doing to her.
She noted that about two weeks ago her father made
an attempt to sleep with her after she had returned
from school but she refused and he plugged an electric
iron and placed the heated metal on her right shoulder
and thigh, resulting in serious injuries.
The girl indicated that on Friday August 23, 2013, after
she had returned from school her father demanded to
have sex with her but she refused and he gathered all
her belongings including school uniforms, text and
exercise books and set them ablaze.
“After that he still wanted to have sex with me so I run
away to a neighbour’s house and it was there that I
broke the news to some of the residents and they also
decided to call DAILY GUIDE to publish the story for the
whole world to know what my father had been doing to
me,” she revealed.
When Daily Guide arrived in the Adiembra community at
about 7:00pm last Friday, scores of residents who had
heard the story were seen in groups discussing it.
After narrating her ordeal to Daily Guide, the young lady
begged to be taken to her mother at Fijai near Sekondi.
There the victim broke the news to her mother, Auntie
Mansa.
The mother, who broke into tears upon hearing the
story, gave the name of the father as Samuel Otoo
Hughes. She queried her daughter for hiding such an
abominable act by the father from her all this while.
Daily Guide learnt that personnel of the Domestic
Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVSSU) of the
Ghana Police Service in Sekondi yesterday arrested the
father and placed him in custody pending further
investigations, after a report was made.
Daily Guide also gathered that a medical report form
was issued to the 17-year-old girl to attend hospital
after which the accused person was arrested.
A source at the Sekondi DOVSSU confirmed the arrest
but declined to give further details stressing that
investigations into the case were still ongoing.

Real Madrid complete Bale transfer
- Real Madrid have completed the
signing of Gareth Bale from
Tottenham on a six-year deal.
Naijanewsstand understands the two clubs
agreed a world record £86
million fee for the Welshman at
the beginning of last week, only
for the deal to be delayed until
Spurs had signed replacements.
After
losing out to Chelsea for Anzhi
Makhachkala attacker Willian ,
they completed a deal for Erik
Lamela from Roma on Friday
afternoon , as well as signing
Christian Eriksen from Ajax.
The Spanish club have now
announced that Bale will move
to the Santiago Bernabeu to
conclude one of the summer's
most protracted, and inevitable,
transfer sagas. He will be
unveiled at 12:00BST on Monday
before facing the press.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has said: "Gareth was a player
we had absolutely no intention of selling as we look to build
for the future. He is a player whose career we have
fostered and developed and he was only a year into his
new four year contract.
"Such has been the attention from Real Madrid and so
great is Gareth's desire to join them, that we have taken
the view that the player will not be sufficiently committed
to our campaign in the current season.
"We have, therefore, with great reluctance, agreed to this
sale and do so in the knowledge that we have an
exceptionally strong squad to which we have added no
fewer than seven top internationals. More importantly, we
have an immense team spirit and a dressing room that is
hungry for success.
"We wish Gareth all the best in the future and he shall
always be welcome at the Lane."
Madrid have pursued the 24-year-old all summer, with a
number of the club's players declaring their support of the
prospective transfer in the media.
Bale's agent, Jonathan Barnett hinted that his client would
be interested in a move as far back as May, before
reappearing on Spanish television in July to again suggest
that a move could be in the offing.
Speculation increased at the end of July when Spurs
manager Andre Villas-Boas failed to deny that Madrid had
lodged a massive offer for the double PFA Player of the
Year, signalling a change in tact from the Portuguese and
the north London club as a whole.
Bale returned to training following injury at the beginning
of August , having already made clear that he wished to
move to the Spanish capital. The two clubs continued to
hold talks over a fee, with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy
holding out for close to £100m, a figure which would have
shattered the £80m paid by Madrid to Manchester United
for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.
With Madrid expecting the transfer to be completed, the
club erected the balcony which was to host Bale's unveiling
as early as last Friday . The Spanish club had earlier listed
replica 'Gareth Bale 11' shirts on their official website,
though they since claimed that they had no control over
the merchandising section.
Having agreed a deal at the beginning of the week, it
appeared Bale would finally complete his protracted move.
However, Spurs delayed the official announcement until
they had signed a replacement - Lamela - while reports
suggesting a second club had entered the running to sign
the winger.
These tactics angered Bale, however, and he failed to
report to training as he awaited confirmation of his big-
money move.
breaking: arsenal want ozil for 40 million?
Arsenal are in advanced talks with Real Madrid to sign Mesut Ozil for £40 million, naijanewsstand can reveal.
High-level discussions have been
held between the clubs in recent
days and Arsene Wenger is increasingly hopeful that a
sensational late move for the Germany international can be
completed before Monday night’s transfer deadline.
Arsenal are willing to pay a club-
record £40m to capture Ozil,
who has privately indicated he is
keen to move to the Emirates
Stadium, despite his public
claims he is happy to stay and
fight for his place in Carlo
Ancelotti's side.
The Gunners now face a race
against time to complete the
deal in what promises to be a
frantic final 24 hours of the
window. Wenger is targeting at
least three new signings on
deadline day as he tries to make
amends for what has been a
frustrating summer of transfer activity for the club.
As revealed by Goal, Arsenal have reached an agreement
with Palermo to sign goalkeeper Emiliano Vivano on a
season-long loan, with the Italian heading to London on
Sunday night to discuss personal terms and undertake a
medical.
Wenger is also working on a third deal as he seeks to
strengthen a squad that has been severely weakened both
by injury and high-profile departures in the past two
summers.
Despite working with a transfer budget of up to £100m,
Wenger has suffered repeated frustration in the transfer
market this summer and is yet to make a cash signing.
The Frenchman’s priority has
been to add a proven striker to
the ranks but two bids for Luis
Suarez were rejected by
Liverpool, while moves for
Gonzalo Higuain, Wayne Rooney
and Karim Benzema have all
been unsuccessful. Wenger
turned his attention to Real
Madrid’s battery of elite
attackers after it became
increasingly clear that Bale was
set for a world-record £86m
move to Spain.
The Gunners tabled a £25.6m
bid for Angel Di Maria last week but the player has begun
the season in impressive form and is reluctant to cut his
ties with the Bernabeu.
However, Ozil was left on the bench for Real’s 3-1 win
earlier on Sunday after being substituted during the 1-0
win at Granada six days previously, which he reacted to by
storming down the tunnel and onto the team bus.
Asked about overlooking Ozil in favour of Di Maria on
Sunday, Ancelotti said: “It’s to be expected that he’s not
happy. I don’t like players who are happy to be on the
bench. It was a football decision to play Di MarÃa, who is
playing well and with great intensity".
Arsenal have been given encouragement that Real are
willing to off-load the 24-year-old playmaker as they
prepare to trim costs and free up space in the team for
Gareth Bale.
Ozil has been a fixture in the Real team, usually playing in
the No10 role behind the centre-forward, since moving
from Werder Bream in the summer of 2010. He has also
won 47 caps for the Germany national team.

arsenal see totenham off in london derby
Arsenal the kings of north london!!!
The French striker could be under threat should
Arsene Wenger manage to bring in a marquee
forward, but he proved his worth yet again with a
fine goal to win the derby
1 Sep 2013 17:52:00
Arsenal beat Tottenham in the
north London derby thanks to a
tidy finish from Olivier Giroud.
The Frenchman struck the only
goal of the game midway
through the first half after
cleverly clipping home Theo
Walcott's low cross.
Nacho Monreal came close to
doubling the lead with 11 minutes remaining after Hugo
Lloris had parried Walcott's shot, but Kyle Walker was on
hand to divert the danger.
Spurs' club record signing Erik Lamela was introduced 15
minutes from time but could not make a telling impact,
while Sandro returned from a long-term injury in place of
Etienne Capoue, who was stretched off with what looked
like a serious knock of his own.
Terry G’s Confession: I became responsible since I had my kid
- Gabriel Amanyi is the weird singer that answers the stage
name Terry G. The singer, who has a lot of street
followers judging from his type of music, recently spoke
with Showtime on his lifestyle, music and other issues.
You released your new album few months back. How is
the album doing in the market?
At least, it’s selling more than pure water because the
reception at the moment, has been very encouraging.
Most of the songs in the album are already hits and it’s
doing well in the market.
What’s the title of the album?
The album is titled, ‘’Book of Ginger .” It contains over 21
tracks and it’s a diversified album where I took time out to
showcase the other side of my career that my fans are
not familiar with.
You also launched the album in
Abuja, why the choice of Abuja?
You know we had some challenges
when I was planning the album
launch. I wanted to use Eko Hotel
and Suites, but the bill was too
expensive for me. I even wanted to
partner with some brands but did not
work out. I couldn’t afford it so I
didn’t want to give up because I have
never done an album launch in my life
before. That was why I decided to
move it to Abuja .
We also learnt that you are planning
to tour Europe with your music?
Yes, but it actually has to do with my
management who do all the arrangement. They are
working on it and I know, it’s an Europe tour. It’s
expected to last for nearly a month and it’s going to be
fun.
What’s happening to your record label?
So far, I’ve always represented TGP Entertainment
Records although I didn’t loud it that much. It’s a label
owned by myself and all I do is just to work with my
management. I will say we are doing well. As board
members, we tried to bring up some brands but there
were some issues as at then which came up. Along the
line, we are trying to work on other acts apart from
mainly just doing collaboration. I think I should do
something that would profit me and for now, I am the
only one on the label. Although my younger brother is
signed to the label for now. I want him to create his own
brand as well. For now, we are looking forward to signing
on new artistes. This is because it has to do with
experience so we will not do something that we will start
regretting in future
So what is new about
Terry G?
So many things. Now, I have a child; I’m a father. His
name is Amaniyi Rex, and with him added to my life, he
has given me a new life as a father. And this has made
me to see the other side of life. It has put me in my right
place because when you are thinking about tomorrow, you
will want to be more responsible. His birth has helped me
a lot and even helped me to stay away from the negative
things of life. Also, I’m now focusing on concert and trying
to work on my brand by making it accessible and also
trying to shoot musical videos.
Did you cut your dreadlocks?
There was a picture I took which looked as if I have
shaved my dreadlocks. Seeing the picture people thought I
have cut my hair. I never cut my dreadlocks.
But can you change your style some day?
Change is constant and that’s one thing about life. But for
now, base on the fact that I portray this image I don’t
think I will do so.
You have been keeping a low profile in recent times, what
is happening to you?
It’s just that it gets to a level where maturity comes in
and you just have to slow down on something’s unlike
when one was still a teenager. So, now that one is mature
those things one indulge in, becomes distractions .I
became responsible since I had my kid . I looked at life in
the other way because it worth a lot for one to be
responsible as people will like to be or want to learn from
you. Now, music is no more a pleasure but a business for
me.
Mnay people believe you must take something to be high.
Is it actually true when it comes to Terry G?
It is not true. Most of the people around me will testify to
that. The only thing I do is, I just smoke my cigarette
before going on stage. I don’t drink before mounting the
stage to perform. This is because drinking exhausts the
energy and am this energetic artist that must not take a
risk at all. People also know me as an energetic
performer, so, anytime I grace the stage I have to deliver.
How are you rocking fatherhood?
It has been fun and I think I am now cool it has given me
the chance to relax and think of a positive life as a father.
It has helped me to scare away negative friends and is
still building as well
So when are you going to take your baby mama to the
altar?
We are making plan for that and when it is time we will let
you know
How exactly did you meet your baby mama?
I met her in the United Kingdom. There was a concert I
attended in London. It was my first major performance in
London. That was where we met. I met her through a
friend and we just started chatting. What actually
happened was that she got amazed knowing I was Terry
G. She wanted to know about me; but when she saw the
other side of me, she got interested and realised the
difference between Gabriel and Terry G. Now we are able
to transform the relationship to a family and I’m more
responsible with her beside me.
Nigerians frown at the new N750 PHCN service charge
The problems PHCN is causing Nigerians have gotten to an
alarming state. If you are a visitor to the country, you
would not need to be told that the country is having a
serious issue with power supply. While majority are
complaining of serious power problems, some are still
saying that there is no problem and that power is being
dispensed equitably. These are some of the opinions as
compiled by SATURDAY VANGUARD.
The sector is epileptic —Arthur Oguezeh
The inconsistent nature of PHCN service in the country is
so bad that some experts have described it to be epileptic
in nature. This has been one of the major reasons why
most industrialists are afraid to invest in the country and it
is making the rate of unemployment to be very high. In
my area in Ikotun,Lagos State, though they say that they
are sharing the supply, we cannot still differentiate
between when it is our turn and when it is not because, it
is complete blackout all through. Power supply is not
consistent. It is so bad.
It’s not that bad here—Ogeri Ndume
We don’t really have much problem in the area where I
am staying. But other parts of the State are really finding
it very hard. Some areas stay for weeks and even months
without power supply while others enjoy power supply. My
question is, does it mean some people pay for it and
others don’t or some are more important than others?
They should justify their pay—Andy Oke
I have no doubt than to believe that Power is the most
corrupt sector in the country. They never make mistakes
in collecting their bills and they always make mistakes in
supplying consumers. Sometimes, they bring the bills even
before month-end and you can stay till the end of the
month without power supply. The government should tell
them to account for all the funds being channeled to the
sector.
They should make power-supply effective—Olajide
Akingbade
I am totally against this wicked compulsory increment of
monthly tariff from N500 to N750. It is daylight robbery.
You can’t imagine PHCN increasing the unjust tariff four
times within the short period of introducing the prepaid
meter. They should first think of how to better their
services before initiating the idea of tariff increment.
They said is for a limited time–Jasper Ezeagwu
When I noticed the new charges on my bill, sincerely I
was rattled because they started with N150 and later
increased it to N300 and to N500. Now it’s N750. So I
quickly rushed down to PHCN office in FESTAC town,
before the Customer Complaint department made me
realize that every month of July is higher because of the
energy they purchase from their major distributors but by
August, if it continues, then more questions will have to be
asked because their service does not justify the amount.
They should reduce their tariff -Oshodi Omoyele
The increment is terrible and unjustifiable; they just want
to inflict more suffering on the masses every time. The
services they render do not justify what we pay. If they
are rational enough, they ought to reduce the service
charge from N500 that it used to be to N200 because of
their poor performance. This N750 is unjust extortion.
It will soon go up to N1,000–Okechukwu Anthony
It is very terrible and annoying. Despite the poor services
PHCN renders, it still has the effrontery to increase the
tariff from the initial N150 to N750. What the authority of
PHCN is otherwise telling Nigerians is that before next
year, we should be getting ready to pay N1,000 for the
services we are not enjoying.
Service charge should not be increased when services are
poor–Mrs Eze
I sent by daughter to PHCN office to pay our electricity bill
recently and she came home with the bill. When I read
through it, I called her to explain what the N750 charge
was about but she could not explain. So I went to their
office myself where I was informed that it has been
increased since June. Even if there should be any change
in the tariff, should it be at a time when there is no
improvement in their services and many people have lost
confidence in their services. They used to give us power
at night and then black-out by the day but now even for
three days stretch, they have not given us power to
justify the N750 service charge.
There is no justification for it –Oforgbu
I am highly disappointed with the whole idea of this cruel
N750 service charge PHCN is introducing. PHCN in all
ramification is not living up to expectations based on the
fact that they are being managed by government and we
are not supposed to revolt against the government of the
day. But their services don’t justify the charges they are
introducing now.
It’s extortion–Ezekiel Jomaya
The increase is unjustifiable because their service is yet
to be constant. So what is the motive behind this monthly
charge? We are not enjoying power except we fuel our
generators constantly which people of neighbouring
countries like Ghana hardly experience in their country.
It’s high time our leaders take the bull by the horn by
making sectors as formidable as Power and Steel to be
more effective in this country.
PHCN has failed— People’s verdict
Undeserved punishment on Nigerians—Kuti Titilayo
The increment in PHCN charges has only brought
undeserved hardship to Nigerians. Power supply in this
country has continued to deteriorate despite the billions of
naira expended to improve the sector.
Accurate measurement and effective pricing does not
reflect in the management of PHCN. The supply and use
of electricity services fall under economics of scale. What
we need is accountability in power supply especially from
PHCN officials. For instance, there are some houses in the
rural area without meters, yet they receive bills at the end
of the month.
The question is where is that money going to and how did
they arrive at the bill? Again , the disconnection and
reconnection fee collected by PHCN officials has no
receipt. I will like to see the PHCN accounts some day.
Nigerians already have a strong resentment for poor
governance, corruption and embezzlement of public fund
and the increment of electricity charges may create civil
unrest.
Again, the Federal Government should accelerate the
entire production and distribution capacity of the power
sector in order to ensure adequate and reliable power
supply to stimulate economic recovery and development of
the country.
Worse since the emergence of PHCN — Odubela
Olawunmi
PHCN is not helping the economy of Nigeria. It was even
better when it was National Electric Power Authority NEPA.
Then, we enjoyed low charges like N1200 and stable
electricity . Supply has been worse since the emergence of
PHCN, high charges without regular supply.
Presently ,most areas of Lagos State are in total darkness.
Some areas in Lagos even operate on two days on and a
day off. The electricity supply is less than six hours on
daily basis and at the end of the month, the least bill is
N7000 for what I did not use. As a good citizen of this
country, I pay my tax in order for the government to
provide social amenities but the reverse is the case.
The epileptic power supply is affecting small scale
businesses in my area. Many shops owners have
abandoned their shops since they cannot afford the use of
generators all the time, leaving landlords with vacant
shops.
To make matters worse, armed robbers have also
capitalize on this darkness to operate almost every night.
This alone is saddening. After spending the day hustling,
you return home to observe vigil for fear of being
attacked.
I strongly believe that if Ghana can celebrate years of
stable electricity, then nothing should stop Nigeria. The
government should mandate the use of prepaid cards for
every house and with that, you will be sure of paying for
what you consumed.
I cannot pay charges that is equal to my house rent—
Femi Akinyemi
A civil engineer and contractor: As far as am concerned,
hiking of PHCN is out of it. I cannot imagine paying bill
that is almost the same with my house rent. In fact, I still
wonder if Mowe, Ogun state is still in the map of Nigeria.
Here, we suffer inadequate transformers. Even when
there is power supply ,most part of the environ would not
have electricity or have a low voltage. I suggest the
government works on this and forget anything about
increasing charges.

to inflict more suffering on the masses every time. The
services they render do not justify what we pay. If they
are rational enough, they ought to reduce the service
charge from N500 that it used to be to N200 because of
their poor performance.
Syria dares Obama, says he is ‘confused’
DAMASCUS (AFP) – Obama is ‘hesitant and confused’:
Syrian deputy FM
Meanwhile the decision by President Barack Obama to
take a step back from an imminent strike on Syria puts all
eyes on Vladimir Putin’s G20 summit where the Russian
and US leaders will push for global support of their
divergent policies.
The Kremlin has said that Syria is not on the official
agenda of the summit to be hosted by Russia in Saint
Petersburg on Thursday and Friday. But with both Moscow
and Washington keen to use it as a platform to discuss a
potential US-led strike against the Syrian regime, the issue
is quickly becoming the elephant in the room.
The two-day meeting, to be attended by the Group of 20
heads of state or government, will also likely be the last
chance for a face-to-face debate over possible military
intervention before it is voted on in the US Congress, due
to come back from recess on September 9.
Obama’s move on Saturday to push back military action
until after a debate and vote by US lawmakers followed
Putin’s call not to take rash actions, which had some
Russian politicians gloating on Sunday.
“Obama was one step away from war,” tweeted the head
of the Russian parliament’s international affairs committee
Alexei Pushkov. “He does not want to be the second
George Bush with the whole world against him.”
Russia has rejected claims that the regime of Bashar al-
Assad has used chemical arms, and Putin, in his first public
reaction to claims that Assad was behind attacks on
August 21, said the United States must provide proof and
avoid repeating the past “mistakes” of Iraq and other
interventions.
He called on Obama to use the G20 summit as a venue to
flesh out their differences over Syria, even though the
Kremlin denied earlier that any bilateral meeting has been
planned between the two leaders.
“I would tell my colleague (Obama) that we shall have a
meeting soon in Saint Petersburg,” Putin said after
repeating Russia’s position that the alleged attack was a
“provocation” to draw the US into the conflict, and that for
the Syrian regime to use chemical weapons would be
“utter nonsense.”
“Of course the G20… cannot be a replacement for the UN
Security Council, which is the sole body that can make a
decision about using force. But it’s a good place to discuss
the problem. Why not use the opportunity?,” Putin said.
Obama will also use the delay in taking action on Syria to
build more international support for the US position at the
summit in Russia, a White House official said late
Saturday.
Russia has supported Assad, vowing to veto any action
against him in the Security Council, and Putin on Saturday
admitted that he had not discussed Syria with Obama
since the first accusations against the regime regarding
the chemical attacks were made.
But hosting the summit in one of the Kremlin’s official
residence palaces, Putin will have prime opportunity to
argue his case, bolstered by the war-weary British
parliament’s shock rejection of military action which left
France as America’s main Syria ally.

President Jonathan Approves N400Billion To End Asuu Strike 2013
The latest news update
on ASUU strike 2013 in
Nigeria as of today
August 20, 2013 is that
President Jonathan has
approved a total sum of
400 billion naira for the
infrastructural
development
of Nigerian universities.
The end of this long ASUU strike 2013 is very near as
the document was made available yesterday at the
meeting of the presidential committee on
implementation of the NEEDS assessment in the
universities with the leaders of the four university-
based unions – the Senior Staff Association of
Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Non-Academic
Staff Union of Educational and Associated
Institutions (NASU), the National Association of
Academic Technologists (NAAT) and the Academic
Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The President of SSANU, Samson Ugwoke, made the
revelation while addressing his union members at
the SSANU National Executive Committee (NEC)
meeting held at the weekend at the University of
Abuja.
Ugwoke, briefing the SSANU members on the
activities of the NEEDS assesment implementation
committee, led by Benue State Governor, Gabriel
Suswam. He noted that the fund was different from
the N100 billion Governor Suswam had raised from
donor agencies and big companies to tackle the
problems of Nigerian universities in 2013.
The labour leader said: “Let me give you a tip on
what the NEEDS assessment committee is doing.
The president has approved that within the next
four years; N400 billion would be expended in
infrastructural development of Nigerian universities,
to transform the universities to international
standard.
“N100 billion has already been raised by Suswam
committee out of which 61 universities have been
pencilled down, as contained in the NEEDS
assessement committee. The N100 billion is
expected to address needs of the universities n the
areas which include re-furbishing and renovation of
lecture theatres and lecture halls, re-furbishing and
renovation of laboratories/libraries and the
renovation of hostels.
“The second category is building of new hostels of
international standard, self-contained rooms, the
latest model in the world. That is the standard to be
built in every university, and also the state-of-the-
art laboratories as well as classrooms, lecture
theatres and the halls.”
Ugwoke pointed out that the money had been
shared and out of the N100 billion, N96 billion had
been sent to universities.
He added: “The committee is meeting again on
Monday, and by Monday (today), the document will
be out. This time around, it is not only by giving
university money, but it will be monitored to ensure
that the money is used to transform the
universities, to bail universities out of the present
situation and developed to an international
recognized university standard.

CRAZY :- Mother Set to marryher own son, Already Six MonthsPregnant with Sons child!
Mbereko, 40, has been a widow for the past
12 years and has been living with her 23-
years-old son Farai Mbereko.
She confirms that she is six month pregnant
and that she has decided it is better to
“marry” her son because she does not want
to marry her late husband’s young brothers,
whom she says are coveting her.
Betty stunned a village court last week when
she said the affair with her son had begun
three years earlier.
She said after spending a lot of money
sending Farai to school following the death of
her husband, she felt she had a right to his
money and no other woman was entitled to
it.
“Look, I strove alone to send my son to
school and no one helped me. Now you see
that my son is working and you accuse me of
doing something wrong.
“Let me enjoy the products of my sweat,” she
told the village court council.
Farai said he was more than prepared to
marry his mother and would pay off the
ilobola balance his father had left unpaid to
his grandparents.
“I know my father died before he finished
paying the bride price and I am prepared to
pay it off,” he said. “It is better to publicise
what is happening because people should
know that I am the one who made my
mother pregnant.
Otherwise they will accuse her of
promiscuity.” But local headman Nathan
Muputirwa says: “We cannot allow this to
happen in our village, mashura chaiwo aya,
(This is a bad omen indeed). In the past they
would have to be killed but today we cannot
do it because we are afraid of the police.”
He warned them to immediately break off
their marriage or leave his village. They chose
the latter and have since left the village for
an undisclosed destination.

Lagos Ranked 4th Worst City In The World
Economist Intelligence Unit, EIU, an independent
forecasting and advisory business within the Economist
Group has said Lagos is the fourth worst city in the world.
Up there on the top worst cities in the world with Lagos is
Port Moresby, in Papua New Guinea on 38.9 per cent,
which shares Lagos’ 137 position.
Although the report made available yesterday described
Lagos as the second-fastest growing city in Africa, it also
