The French striker could be under threat should
Arsene Wenger manage to bring in a marquee
forward, but he proved his worth yet again with a
fine goal to win the derby

Arsenal beat Tottenham in the
north London derby thanks to a
tidy finish from Olivier Giroud.
The Frenchman struck the only
goal of the game midway
through the first half after
cleverly clipping home Theo
Walcott's low cross.
Nacho Monreal came close to
doubling the lead with 11 minutes remaining after Hugo
Lloris had parried Walcott's shot, but Kyle Walker was on
hand to divert the danger.
Spurs' club record signing Erik Lamela was introduced 15
minutes from time but could not make a telling impact,
while Sandro returned from a long-term injury in place of
Etienne Capoue, who was stretched off with what looked
like a serious knock of his own.
